Getting the Most Out of Reading

Reading a book is one thing, but getting the most out of your reading and grasping what it is about is a totally different issue.

Sometimes it is hard to determine ways to fully understand everything, especially in a difficult text.

Here are some tips on how to really get everything you should out of your reading.

• Preview the book before reading so you know what it’s about and what you should be understanding.

• Reread sections that are hard to understand and highlight important parts.

• Write down the main idea so you know what the primary focus is.

• Use sticky notes to make annotations about points you want to refer back to

• Don’t skip any sections because this could take away from the main message.
